Chicago schools opened this week with more safety measures in place in hopes to reduce the incidents of violence that have been a problem year after year, and increasing in recent years. An Asian-American has been named EEOC chairman by President Barack Obama. Jenny R. Yang has been named as the new chair of the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, becoming the first Asian-American to lead that agency.
President Barack Obama announced her elevation from vice chair on Tuesday. Yang has served as vice chair since April.
